LifeFitness 8500 Treadmill Lift Error and Unit Will Not Incline

Probable Cause

A) Power cord is wrapped over the lift leg assembly.
B) Home switch is bad.
C) Lift motor is bad.
D) Unit will not elevate to 15%.
E) Heatsink control board is bad.

Corrective Action

A) Reposition the power cord so that it is not wrapped over the lift leg assembly. Test the incline through diagnostics by first turning the unit OFF at the power switch. Then, while pressing the INCLINE DOWN key, turn the unit power switch ON. TEST MODE will appear on the display. Press the INCLINE UP key to start the elevation. Unit will only elevate while the INCLINE UP key is being pressed. End the test by simply turning the power switch to the OFF position.

B) Test the incline and if the unit elevates, check the home switch with an ohm meter. (Incline test is performed by first turning the unit OFF at the power switch. Then, while pressing the INCLINE DOWN key, turn the unit power switch ON. TEST MODE will appear on the display. Press the INCLINE UP key to start the elevation. Unit will only elevate while the INCLINE UP key is being pressed. End the test by simply turning the power switch to the OFF position.) The switch should be open at one position and closed in the other. Replace the home switch if necessary.

C) Test unit with a known good lift motor. Replace the lift motor if necessary.

D) Check the calibration of the lift motor. Verify that when unit is physically at 0% elevation, the display shows 0% elevation.

E) Test unit with a known good heatsink control board. Replace the heatsink control board if necessary.
